History is made

At Kippen Gun Club on Saturday, history was made!!! Four, yes four lady shooters took part in the 100 OS competition – and even more remarkable, one of them was the South Area Champion and equalled the High Gun score. Nickie Keene had a great day out, shooting 86 – a personal best by 13 – targets over the hundred and a new PB over 75 with 65 scored. Fantastic. Sian Bruce the 14 year old superstar shot 85 and thus equalled 2nd place – another great result.
Furthermore, to add to all of the amazing events, 22 guns shot the competition. Eventual winner – at around 7pm in the evening was Trevor Jeffrey after a shoot off with Toddy – also on 86.
What a great day for Olympic Skeet – long may it continue.
There was an ABT shoot on at the same time at Kippen, with what looked to be a good turnout. I don’t know all the stories, but Cameron Hay has decided he will shoot ABT this year – he’s busy building a new house – and stuck in a pretty good score of 98! I thought that this may be the highest in Scotland this year but Hugh Pinkerton had shot this at the ABT at Loch Ness earlier in the year. Well done to them both.

Off to East Yorkshire later this week for the 2nd GB OS Selection.
